Regent Court

Regent Court is one of the most exclusive residential neighborhoods in Longboat Key, composed of just eight mansions. These luxury residences stand out among the multiple units of high-rise condominiums dominating the residential properties of this community’s domain at the gated confines of the Resort at Longboat Key Club.

This high-end neighborhood earned its lofty market status not only due to its regal dwellings. The thumbprint of opulence that Regal Court flaunts also manifests in its prime beachfront location. In addition, Regent Court homes face eastward to the well-manicured greens and fairways of the Links on Longboat (formerly known as Islandside), the Resort at Longboat Key Club’s 18-hole championship golf course.

Providential Development

Serendipity played a hand in Regent Court’s the development. The acreage of the property was supposed to be developed as part of the Beaches of Longboat Key condominium adjacent south of it. The Dutch pension fund, which was developing the Beaches around the early 1980s, was planning to build four buildings in the parcel.

Only one was built, however, because the fund had some financial issues. The fund then sold the Regent Court property to a Longboat Key developer, Bill Boyer, who platted it into first-rate, estate-sized lots for single-family homes.

Boyer, also the developer of Longboat Key communities Harbor Court, Harbor Oaks, and Corey’s Landing, built a spec home on the northernmost part of Regent Court, adjacent to the Privateer condominium. The rest of the parcels were put on the market and were bought individually, with the last sold sometime in the early 1990s. The pricing of these estate-sized lots in those years, somewhere in the $1.8‒$2.2 million range, highlights the prime value of Regent Court homes for sale.

Custom-Built Mansions

The first owners of these properties made sure that they’ll enjoy to the fullest Regent Court’s amazing beachfront location allowing spectacular sunset and golf course views. They contracted their own architects for renditions of custom-built mansions matching property’s marvelous setting and expressing distinctive themes, characters and even individual branding.

Some of these bespoke residences emerged as among the finest dwellings ever built in the Sunshine State. One of these masterpieces came in the Serenissima, a Venetian-style mansion on 845 Longboat Club Road built in 2005.

Its design that evokes Renaissance Venice was superbly rendered within the dwelling’s floor area measuring 19,000 square feet. The style integrated unmistakable trappings of opulence in Serenissima’s grand salon, home theater, sun room, six bedrooms, and six-and-a-half baths. Its other winsome features included a swimming pool, a 10-car gallery, and a140-feet stretch of white-sand beachfront with views of the Gulf of Mexico.

Luxury Market Benchmark Properties

Another Regent Court masterpiece comes in the Villa del Sogno on 1.35 acres at 825 Longboat Key Club Drive, complete with an infinity pool and spa, plus a semi-private cabana. This Mediterranean-style, 12,095-square-foot home was built in 2002, featuring a four-car garage on the first level. Its second floor holds a family room, four guest suites and a guest kitchen, while the third floor boasts a formal living room with a marble fireplace, formal dining room, chef’s kitchen, catering kitchen, master suite and office.

Although opportunities to buy Regent Court homes come rarely, a closed deal here sets record in terms of value. Such a transaction frequently serves too as a bellwether to the health of the luxury home market.
