 Very few communities could outshine Lighthouse Point, given its esteemed location within the gated enclave of The Resort at Longboat Key Club. This property is actually the small peninsula at the southwestern tip of Longboat Key, directly facing New Pass, separating Longboat from Lido Key.

Lighthouse Point was developed around the mid-1990s on the heels of the market debut of Regent Court, another elite community within the confines of the posh Longboat Key resort club. Located a short distance south of Regent Court, and adjacent east of the Sands Point condominium is Lighthouse Point, a gated community as well, and consists of just 16 luxury residences.

Architectural Showcase

 This high-end community was the brainchild of a prolific local developer, Bill Rein, who was also behind the development of a nearby condo complex, Tangerine Bay. Rein first built a spec home at Lighthouse Point, and the remaining lots were sold individually.

The buyers, as expected, built multi-million dollar custom homes within the property. Consequently, the neighborhood became an endearing showcase of a wide variety of architectural designs. This charming mix consists of Mediterranean, Key West, and modernist styles of architecture.

Rare Waterfront Gems

 Nine of the 16 Lighthouse Point homes are located fronting New Pass, and are thus provided with awe-inspiring views of the waterway and vessels cruising by. As endearing, dolphins frequently frolic around this nearby waters as well. The rest of the seven residences in the community are on the southern shore of a small lagoon, allowing their owners to maintain deep-water boat slips.

Lighthouse Point homes for sale seldom come on the market, but just the same, the community’s residences are all highly coveted on the market. Its privacy and proximity to all the membership privileges of The Resort at Longboat Key Club, such as dining, golf and tennis, are strong selling points for these residences. Delightful outside attractions are within easy reach too at St. Armands Circle and downtown Sarasota.

The most recent sales in Lighthouse Point was in 2015, during which ownership of two residences changed hands in $3 million‒$4 million deals. In late November 2016, one home in this community was listed for sale with a tag price of $5.5 million, in time for an upcoming season that traditionally draws a lot of upscale home buyers.
