Lido Key Grooms Its Beach Assets

Longboat Key, Florida | October 9th, 2018 – Sale is now pending for the beachfront Lido Key condo at the L’Elegance that our team listed on the market in July this year. We are optimistic of notching more sales on similar waterfront properties in the days ahead, as our local officials are exerting determined efforts to preserve the integrity of the local beaches and waters.

As early as this November, for instance, work is expected to begin on a $4 million project to fix the beach erosion in Lido Key. A contractor is currently being picked to rebuild Lido’s shoreline using sand from New Pass.

Short-term and Long-term Fix

The coastal erosion in Lido caused by recent hurricanes, however, was so alarming that city officials of Sarasota have to declare an emergency and take immediate action.

This urgent move is certainly a welcome sign for Lido homeowners as well as prospective buyers. Its beaches constitute the No. 1 asset of Lido Key and drive the value of local properties. Lido Key boasts of three beaches featuring sands as pristine white as those in the nearby Siesta Key.

Interestingly too the island’s name Lido actually means beach in Italian. The key’s name is a take from local pioneer John Ringling, an Italian culture buff, who referred to this island’s beaches as “lido”.

A Trilogy for Lido

Lido Key Grooms Its Beach Assets - Judy Kepecz-Hays Selling Luxury Real EstateOver the years, Lido’s beaches have earned the reputation of being more private, less crowded and thus more relaxing. The beach choices along Lido’s coastline include North Lido Beach, the mid-key Lido Public Beach and the South Lido Beach Park.

Besides its swimmer-friendly beach, the South Lido Beach Park offers well-shaded picnic areas, kayak and canoe launches, and provides scenic views of Sarasota Bay, the Gulf of Mexico, and downtown Sarasota. Other water-based recreational activities available in Lido Key include deep-sea fishing, sailing, canoeing and kayaking. Memorable vistas of sunsets are also very much part of the attractions in all Lido beaches.

Blessings of St. Armands

Aside from its wonderful beaches, the chic commercial hub St. Armands Circle, which just from minutes from Lido and its beaches, is another magnet for property buyers not only in this barrier island. There are over 140 specialty shops, boutiques, galleries, and restaurants in St. Armands Circle that also help stimulate buying interest in nearby downtown Sarasota.

With these enticing destinations combined, St. Armands Circle recently received    TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence Hall of Fame. It garnered this award after receiving from the website a Certificate of Excellence for five consecutive years. Contributing to winning these citations too are the special events held regularly at St. Armands, such as sidewalk sales, art and craft festivals, exotic car shows, and holiday events.
