Longboat Key, Florida | June 27th, 2017 – There’s plenty more to share, it turns out, about Centre Shops that our Kepecz-Hays Team recently got reacquainted with as we explored the attractions of its nearby Joan M. Durante Park.
This commercial hub at 5370 Gulf of Mexico Drive, which is a short distance from where we have some listed properties for showing, is not only host to fine shops and restaurants. For a little over a year now, Centre Shops has also accommodated the 2,800-square-foot clinic of the AllCare Medical Centers providing primary and urgent care to town residents and island visitors.
The AllCare clinic opened in March 2016 following private initiatives to set up a Longboat Key Center for Healthy Living. After noting that there hasn’t been a family doctor practicing in the town during the previous two years, the Longboat Key Foundation mounted a fund-raising campaign to set up a local medical facility.
Larger Facility Eyed
The invitation for private-sector support during AllCare’s startup period continues, according to our friend Bob Simmons, chair of the Foundation’s board of advisors. This continuing fundraiser aims to offset the clinic’s operating expenses which may exceed revenues due to the town’s seasonal population.
As important, Bob also said the Foundation is keen on setting up a stand-alone medical facility as it foresees the clinic to outgrow its current Centre Shops location. Additional specialists are eying to co-locate in the AllCare facility, Simmons added. The site being considered for a stand-alone Longboat Key Center for Healthy Living is somewhere in the town center area near Bay Isles Parkway.
Besides primary and urgent medical services, the Centre Shops’ clinic also provides services on behavioral health, women’s health, and onsite lab and imaging services. A family-owned health care practice, AllCare Medical Centers also operates in Lakewood Ranch and in Venice.
For Mental and Physical Health
In addition to AllCare, the Centre Shops’ clinic likewise includes the Center for Brain Health and Fitness Quest Physical Therapy. The Center for Brain Health is the only neurology practice in the Sarasota area exclusively specialized in its field. It offers evaluation and interdisciplinary treatment services programmed for better brain health and maximum brain performance of patients of all ages.
Fitness Quest Physical Therapy, on the other hand, is touted as the largest local privately owned practice in its specialization. It treats a variety of neurological and orthopedic conditions, such as neck and back pains, balance disorders, post-surgical conditions, sports injuries, post-fracture care and arthritis.
South of Town Covered
In addition to the Centre Shops’ clinic, residents at the southernmost most side of Longboat Key have an option in the urgent care center which Sarasota Memorial Hospital (SMH) opened at St. Armands Circle in October last year. This newly opened facility should add to the marketability of residences within the confines of the Longboat Key Club like the Regent Place and Inn on the Beach where our Kepecz-Hays Team also has sales listings.
The 5,387-square-foot SMH facility is located on 500 John Ringling Blvd at the St. Armands Circle entrance, just about a mile and a half of these luxury properties. This urgent care center is the not-for-profit health system’s first facility for patients in the barrier island communities.
The center is equipped and staffed to treat flu, cold and other common infections, as well as provide medical attention to lacerations, sprains, fractures, and minor burns. X-ray and laboratory services also are available at this SMH urgent care center.
